Electrically non-conductive or conductive coatings on ferromagnetic metals, such as steel, can be measured through galvanised or electromagnetic steel (e.g. galvanised or electro-galvanised steel). induction (the instrument setting symbol is Fe), which measures the paint thickness based on the amount of magnetic flux flowing from the sensor through the non-ferromagnetic paint onto the ferromagnetic substrate.
