The Victron Energy MultiPlus-II GX 48/6k5/100-50 is a multifunctional inverter/charger designed for 48V battery systems. It combines a sine wave inverter, a battery charger and a GX device for system monitoring and control in a single enclosure.
With a continuous output power of 6kW at 25°C and a peak power of up to 11kW, the unit can support residential loads, off-grid installations, mobile systems and professional applications. The built-in charger can deliver up to 100A, depending on the operating temperature and system configuration.
In the event of a grid outage or generator disconnection, the MultiPlus-II GX automatically switches to battery power. The main AC output can continue supplying critical loads, while the 32A auxiliary output is intended for equipment that should operate only when an AC source is available.
Integrated GX monitoring
The built-in GX device simplifies system integration and monitoring. Battery, inverter and compatible solar charge controller parameters can be viewed locally on the two-line display or remotely through the Victron Remote Management platform – VRM.
The system can be connected to the network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and provides USB, VE.Direct and BMS-CAN interfaces for integrating compatible equipment.
PowerControl and PowerAssist
The PowerControl function allows a limit to be set for the current drawn from the grid or generator. When the installation’s power consumption increases, the MultiPlus-II GX can automatically reduce the current used for battery charging, helping prevent the AC source from being overloaded.
With PowerAssist, energy stored in the batteries can temporarily supplement the power available from the grid or generator. Once consumption decreases, the available surplus is used to recharge the batteries.
Expandable configurations
Multiple MultiPlus-II units can be configured in parallel to increase system output power and charging capacity. The product can also be used in three-phase installations. Only one unit with GX functionality is required in a parallel or three-phase system.

Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 48/6k5/100-50 combines a pure sine wave inverter and a battery charger rated at up to 100A in a single unit. It is designed for energy storage systems, backup power applications, and installations where grid or generator power must be intelligently supplemented with energy stored in batteries.
The model operates with 48V battery systems and delivers 6kW of continuous power at 25°C. For limited periods, it can support higher loads, reaching 8kW for up to one hour and a maximum output of 11kW for up to one minute, under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
The MultiPlus-II can be used in grid-connected photovoltaic systems, off-grid installations, marine applications, mobile systems, and backup power solutions.
Important: The “6k5” designation is part of the model’s official name. The confirmed continuous output is 6kW at 25°C, while the 6.5kW rating is available only for a limited period.
Uninterruptible power for essential loads
The inverter’s main output operates as an uninterruptible AC power source. If the grid or generator is disconnected, the MultiPlus-II takes over the connected loads in less than 20ms.
This short transfer time allows computers, electronic equipment, and other critical loads to continue operating without noticeable interruption under normal conditions.
The product also features a second AC output. This output is powered only when an AC source is available at the MultiPlus-II input. It can be used for loads that should not discharge the battery, such as an electric water heater or other non-essential appliances.
PowerControl – protecting the grid or generator
The PowerControl function allows the maximum current available from the grid, generator, or shore power supply to be set.
The MultiPlus-II monitors the consumption of other equipment and uses only the remaining power to charge the batteries. This helps reduce the risk of overloading the AC power source.
PowerAssist – supplementing the available power
When the load temporarily exceeds the power available from the grid or generator, the PowerAssist function covers the difference using energy stored in the batteries.
Once consumption decreases, the available power is used to recharge the batteries. This function is useful in installations supplied by limited-capacity sources or in applications with temporary power-demand peaks.
Integrated 100A battery charger
The integrated charger delivers a maximum charging current of 100A at 25°C and 95A at 40°C.
The MultiPlus-II can be configured for use with several battery technologies, including lithium, lead-acid, and zinc-bromine batteries. The charging parameters must be adjusted according to the battery manufacturer’s specifications.
Integration into Victron ESS systems
The MultiPlus-II can serve as the main component of a Victron ESS – Energy Storage System.
It can be integrated with MPPT solar charge controllers, grid-connected photovoltaic inverters, energy meters, and monitoring and control devices from the Victron ecosystem.
Depending on the system configuration, an energy meter or external AC current sensor may be required to optimise self-consumption and control energy flow.
Parallel and three-phase operation
Up to six MultiPlus-II units can operate in parallel to achieve a higher power output.
Three identical units are required to create a three-phase system, with one unit assigned to each phase. The manufacturer also allows multiple three-phase sets to be connected in parallel, provided that Victron’s design and configuration requirements are followed.
All units used in a parallel or three-phase configuration must be the same model and must be configured accordingly.

ESS (Energy Storage System) functionality
The Multiplus-II is a multifunctional inverter/charger featuring all the options of the MultiPlus, plus an external current sensor that extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 50A and 100A respectively. The Multiplus-II is ideal for off-grid applications in the marine, yachting, automotive and land-based sectors. It also includes an anti-islanding function and a growing list of country-specific approvals for ESS functionality. A number of system configurations are possible.
PowerControl and PowerAssist – Increasing grid or generator capacity
A maximum grid or generator current can be set. The Multiplus-II will then take other AC consumers into account and use the excess energy produced to charge the batteries, thereby preventing the generator or grid from being overloaded (PowerControl function). PowerAssist takes the PowerControl function and takes it to the next level. Where maximum power is required only for a certain period of time, the Multiplus-II will compensate for insufficient power from the generator or grid using the batteries, and when consumption drops, the surplus power is used to recharge the batteries.
Two AC outputs per side
The Multiplus-II takes over the supply to connected loads in the event of a mains failure or when the generator is disconnected. This happens very quickly (in less than 20 milliseconds), so PCs and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without interruption. The secondary output is active only when AC is available at the Multiplus-II input. Loads that should not discharge the battery, such as a boiler, can be connected to this output.
