Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 48/6k5/100-50 combines a pure sine wave inverter and a battery charger rated at up to 100A in a single unit. It is designed for energy storage systems, backup power applications, and installations where grid or generator power must be intelligently supplemented with energy stored in batteries.
The model operates with 48V battery systems and delivers 6kW of continuous power at 25°C. For limited periods, it can support higher loads, reaching 8kW for up to one hour and a maximum output of 11kW for up to one minute, under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
The MultiPlus-II can be used in grid-connected photovoltaic systems, off-grid installations, marine applications, mobile systems, and backup power solutions.
Important: The “6k5” designation is part of the model’s official name. The confirmed continuous output is 6kW at 25°C, while the 6.5kW rating is available only for a limited period.
Uninterruptible power for essential loads
The inverter’s main output operates as an uninterruptible AC power source. If the grid or generator is disconnected, the MultiPlus-II takes over the connected loads in less than 20ms.
This short transfer time allows computers, electronic equipment, and other critical loads to continue operating without noticeable interruption under normal conditions.
The product also features a second AC output. This output is powered only when an AC source is available at the MultiPlus-II input. It can be used for loads that should not discharge the battery, such as an electric water heater or other non-essential appliances.
PowerControl – protecting the grid or generator
The PowerControl function allows the maximum current available from the grid, generator, or shore power supply to be set.
The MultiPlus-II monitors the consumption of other equipment and uses only the remaining power to charge the batteries. This helps reduce the risk of overloading the AC power source.
PowerAssist – supplementing the available power
When the load temporarily exceeds the power available from the grid or generator, the PowerAssist function covers the difference using energy stored in the batteries.
Once consumption decreases, the available power is used to recharge the batteries. This function is useful in installations supplied by limited-capacity sources or in applications with temporary power-demand peaks.
Integrated 100A battery charger
The integrated charger delivers a maximum charging current of 100A at 25°C and 95A at 40°C.
The MultiPlus-II can be configured for use with several battery technologies, including lithium, lead-acid, and zinc-bromine batteries. The charging parameters must be adjusted according to the battery manufacturer’s specifications.
Integration into Victron ESS systems
The MultiPlus-II can serve as the main component of a Victron ESS – Energy Storage System.
It can be integrated with MPPT solar charge controllers, grid-connected photovoltaic inverters, energy meters, and monitoring and control devices from the Victron ecosystem.
Depending on the system configuration, an energy meter or external AC current sensor may be required to optimise self-consumption and control energy flow.
Parallel and three-phase operation
Up to six MultiPlus-II units can operate in parallel to achieve a higher power output.
Three identical units are required to create a three-phase system, with one unit assigned to each phase. The manufacturer also allows multiple three-phase sets to be connected in parallel, provided that Victron’s design and configuration requirements are followed.
All units used in a parallel or three-phase configuration must be the same model and must be configured accordingly.
Monitoring and control
The product is equipped with a VE.Bus communication port used for:
- Parallel operation
- Three-phase system configuration
- System component integration
- Configuration
- Monitoring and control
Bluetooth monitoring requires an optional VE.Bus Smart dongle. Remote access and monitoring through the Victron VRM portal require a compatible GX device and an internet connection.
Local configuration may require the Victron MK3-USB interface, depending on the configuration method used.

Victron Energy MultiPlus-II includes protection against:
- Output short circuits
- Overloads
- Excessively high battery voltage
- Excessively low battery voltage
