The Venus OS supports several types of energy meters, some of which are stocked by Victron and others that have to be purchased directly from manufacturers such as Carlo Gavazzi or ABB.

Energy meters are used in systems with a GX device to measure the output of a photovoltaic inverter, an AC genset or as a network meter in an ESS installation. It can also be used to measure AC loads.

Description

The energy meter selection depends on the type of installation, the number of phases you want to measure and the maximum current per phase. Examples: for a three-phase connection to the utility grid, a three-phase meter is recommended. A three-phase meter should also be used for a three-phase PV inverter. If you have a single-phase connection to the utility grid, choose a single-phase meter.

In an installation with a single-phase connection and a PV inverter that requires metering with an energy meter, you can opt for two ET112 meters or one ET340 meter. If the application exceeds the maximum rated current, it is advisable to use an energy meter with current transformers. Also, note that most PV inverters are equipped with a "direct reading" function through the Victron system, so it is not necessary to measure their output with an energy meter.
